Because JDownloader didn't work for me at first, but after I click on the "Check For New Updates" icon (the top, rightmost icon on your JDownloader window, the one with the picture of the world and red and blue arrows), it downloaded all the necessary updates and has been working like a charm ever since. Make sure to give JDownloader's updater routine enough time to run completely through, otherwise, your system won't be updated properly. If for some reason it's still not working, then the only other reason I can think of is your Firewall and you need to turn it off. That's about all that I can think of. @retro
